This past Saturday, I woke as normal and stumbled down the stairs for coffee.
As I stumbled about, I decided to check my Instagram, Twitter, WordPress and Facebook accounts (because that’s the MOST important thing to do first thing in the morning, of course!).
While checking my Instagram account I found the following post from SAB Illustration:
I’ve been a follower of Shauna’s at SAB Illustration since stumbling upon her wonderful drawings a few months ago on Instagram.
Each illustration is colorful, fun and captures the essence of the subject.
Imagine how flattered I was when she posted this fantastic rendering of one of my outfits!
Shauna has an Etsy shop where she draws custom illustrations for all occasions – weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, shower’s – as well as designing company branding or stationary!
Aren’t they adorable!

I want to thank Shauna for the beautiful rendering she did of me! She truly made my day, week, month, year!
This suit was love at first sight…
Suit: Kate Spade NY Cami: Worthington at JCPENNEY Heels: BCBGeneration Necklace: TJMaxx (no brand) Clutch: Made by Cortneybre…
Yes..it’s bright and busy – and just so lovely! I’ve worn both pieces – blazer and pants – separately but this was the first time I’d paired them together.
The result was everything I’d hoped!
Eye-catching and interesting…a real conversation starter!
Isn’t the pattern lovely!?!
One of the reasons I love Kate Spade SO much is the brand’s whimsical and outside-of-the-box approach to fashion.
The clothing is visually stunning…living, walking art!
Hope you are having a great week! For more Cortneybre, check me out on Instagram – @Cortneybreblog!
In need of the perfect dress for summer….look no further!
Dress: Kate Spade NY Bag: Kate Spade NY
Wedges: ShoeDazzle Madison Jewelry: Charming Charlie
I fell in love with this Kate Spade dress a few months ago. It’s just beautiful with its fit and flare silhouette and bateau neckline.
The cut is perfect and it fits true to size and is made of a breathable cotton fabric with just enough silk to give it weight and shine.
It does come with a bit of a hefty price tag so I decided to wait until it either went on sale or I could find something similar.
Typically, if I find something I like but cannot splurge, I search for similar items on Google to see if I can get the same look for less.
This usually yields great results and I’m able to find something similar to what I am seeking at a much more reasonable price.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case with this dress. It was only available as a Kate Spade and with Kate Spade prices. I decided to wait until the dress went on sale (fingers nimbly crossed that it would) and checked the Kate Spade site weekly.
Finally, it did make the sale page and was an additional 25% off also! What a steal!
The dress is still on sale actually but unfortunately is only available in size 00. If you LOVE the dress as much as I but wear a different size than the one offered on the Kate Spade site, you can purchase it at alternate websites also.
The prices on these sites aren’t discounted but if you’re willing to splurge, you can buy it using the link I’ve provided at the end of the post.
Hope you’re having a great week!
Hello everyone! I’ve not blogged in a while as I needed to take a little “me” time to bring myself back together.
Sometimes you need to just take a break from everything to figure out what really matters!
Regardless, I’m back and featuring a wonderful and “charming” necklace and bracelet set from Charming Charlie!
I am constantly on the lookout for bright and whimsical items with just a little bit of cheek!
I fell in love with this set with its bright colors and fun designs! The little sparkly pineapple accents are too fun!
I paired my accessories with a simple look – yellow skirt and white cotton blouse.
I also added a punch of color with my green Louenhide bag! I was very lucky to have snatched up a cute scarf in the frenzy that was LillyGate (Lilly Pulitzer for Target) and thought it added a really cute vibe to the bag.
I simply folded the scarf and wrapped it around one of the handles.
I then tied off each end and voila’ – instant interest!
Hope you’re having a great Monday!
Sometimes something so small can make or break an outfit.
A well placed pin can make the difference between flop or flawless!
I find fashion inspiration in the oddest places. Hobby Lobby was the perfect place to find this most important finishing flourish!
The outfit, pulled perfectly together, with the placement of a pin! (This posh Olivia Miller clutch helped too!)
Have a great Friday and holiday weekend!
As summer quickly approaches, bright prints and colors abound!

One of the hottest prints trending this summer is the
It hit big last summer and has become a fave of bloggers and fashionistas.
I was lucky to stumble upon this lovely Joie palm print blazer late last summer. It pairs well with bright or neon yellows and could easily work with blue, pink or red.
- Offset the print with a complimentary color – try red, yellow, or blue!
- Don’t wear too much green – or you’ll risk the over the top “safari” look
- Try the print with stripes – especially navy blue!
- Don’t wear too many prints – palm print head to toe can be too busy and distracting
- Go simple sometimes– wear only white with the print
- Bring on the metal! Gold and silver both look great with the print so don’t forget the jewelry!
As with most prints, the palm print is very flattering and versatile! Hope you’ll check out this trend and start styling soon!
Here are a few hot pieces!
There is an old saying…when life gives you lemons…make lemonade. I’ve recently been handed a lemon…and while I don’t want to go into too much detail until I know more, I will admit it’s gotten me down a bit.
In an effort to comfort myself, I decided to go shopping – my go-to retail therapy approach that usually perks me back up. While shopping at Belk – one of my fave stores – and perusing their isles I saw this cute and whimsical lemon print shirt by Jones and Company.
It was a sign from the universe…
…and it made me feel much, much better. My spirits lifted just a little.
So into my buggy it went and onto my body the next day! I thought this bright green LouenHide bag was the perfect match!
I topped the lemon print off with a lace overlay blouse from LOFT and added a cute and flirty skirt from JCREW.
I hope you’re having a great week! xx…
