Friday… Stripes and Silk

001 collage (1)

Ahhhh……its Friday.  Finally.  Yes, it’s been a long week for me but the day of redemption is finally here.  I’m ready to jump heels first into the weekend!

Today’s outfit features my new fave top by Bisou Bisou.

It’s a very versatile, black and white, stretchy top I bought recently at JC Penney.  The most wonderful aspect of the top is its cool, abstractly cut bottom but as the top is tucked in today, I’ll have to feature that in a future post.

I’m actually a little ashamed of wearing the top again today as I wore it last week and weekend – once with a skirt and once with jeans.  It just looks so great with everything that I keep finding different ways to style it.  (I know…I’ll stop whining). 🙂

Paired with the top is a beautiful, Kate Spade, silk, fuchsia skirt.  I battled to win this skirt on eBAY and I’m so thankful I won!  From its delicate detailing to its flaming fuchsia hue, it’s a show stopper.

Ahhhh…today is one of “those days”.  I literally rolled outta bed, grabbed the first thing hanging in my closet and a jacket to match. Since tomorrow is casual Friday, I wanted something dressy (not that I don’t always want something dressy) and I must say I’m very proud of myself for building a wardrobe that is a collage of mix-n-match wearables.  Most of my clothes will easily pair together and that was much needed on a day like today!

The thing I love the most about the dress I chose is that it has a wonderful, long belt made out of the same fabric.  This allows me to not only wear the dress as a skirt but also use the belt (tied in a cute bow of course) to really pull the outfit together.

Plus, I get tons of compliments on the bow and the outfit really works as one piece versus just a jacket and a dress.  It’s such a beautiful dress also…an eBay find that I’ve coveted from the moment I pulled it from it’s box.  Now to start thinking about Casual Friday…

Cortneybre…

Oh…one more thing.  I took my pics in front of a cute mural today and didn’t notice until later that the mural appears to be quite shocked by my outfit!  Just ignore the big Mark Twain-esque man behind me who looks quite startled! (Although I do have that effect sometimes).

Have You Heard?! The Sarah Jessica Parker Collection is debuting soon at Nordstrom…

Have you heard?  Sarah Jessica Parker will be launching her shoe line, aptly named, The SJP Collection, exclusively at Nordstrom on February 28th!

The shoes are made in Italy and come in a range of hues and designs but definitely have a 1970’s or 1980’s inspired flair.  SJP stated she worked with shoe designer, George Malkemus, on the line and used her memories of New York City circa late 1970’s-1980’s as inspiration.

In addition to fabulous shoes, the line consists of 3 bags and a trench coat with prices ranging from $195 – $500.00.

One of the coolest aspects of her launch is that she’ll be making personal appearances at a few select Nordstrom stores and presenting her line in person!  The personal appearance dates and locations are listed below.

  • Feb. 28-March 2: Pop-Up Shop, 372 West Broadway, New York City
  • March 5: Nordstrom Flagship, Seattle
  • March 6: The Grove, Los Angeles
  • March 7: Michigan Avenue, Chicago
  • March 8: Aventura, Miami
  • March 9: NorthPark Center, Dallas

SJP has also been named as a guest designer editor for Nordstrom and will be posting on Nordstrom’s blog, The Thread

Check it out at: http://blogs.nordstrom.com/fashion/category/sjp-sarah-jessica-parker/

I can’t wait to shop The SJP Collection and perhaps, if my budget allows, debut a pair of heels on Cortneybre.  Stay tuned!

Happy Shopping!  Cortneybre…

Casual Friday – Pulling off patterned pants!

Well, Happy Friday!  As it’s also Casual Friday, I wanted to be truly casual today.  Which for me translates to pants with heels.  (Yes, that’s as casual as I get during the work week).

When I first put on these pants…I’ll be honest…I wasn’t so sure about them.  I could vaguely hear the theme to Miami Vice playing in the back of my mind – and I’m too young to even remember that show!

I did, however, LOVE the way they fit at the ankle and once I added this great blazer vest, they looked really hip and stylish.

Also, as it’s warmed up a bit, although I think the Polar Vortex will grace us once again before Spring, I popped on a newly bought pair of BCBG heels from Shoe Dazzle.  These babies have been patiently awaiting their debut and its been so nice to have my toes exposed for a bit!  (Ewww…I know…but if you’d been as bundled as I have the last few months you’d understand)!

Have a great weekend!  Champagne wishes and caviar dreams my friends!  Cortneybre…

Looking tres Parisian in Kate Spade!

Shoes, Necklace, Clutch, Earrings, Watch: Kate Spade

I was told today that I looked very Parisian and I guess that was the look for which I was going.  I’m still suffering from a case of supreme jealousy as a friend of mine is going to Paris and I’m…not.

But…zut alors…c’est dommage as my French teacher used to say and so when one can’t GO to Paris, one DRESSES as if she’s going to Paris!

I also needed an outfit to wear with my new Kate Spade clutch purse and this one fit the bill!

I actually accidentally wore a lot of Kate Spade today.  As in…Kate Spade shoes, necklace, clutch, watch and earrings.  I didn’t realize I was becoming so “Kate” until I started my post and was labeling my pictures.  Still…there are worse things!

Well…au revoir mes amies!  Cortneybre…

I Got It!! The Ooh La La Large Bella Pouch by Kate Spade!

Ooh la la!  I just couldn’t resist this Kate Spade large pouch when I saw it pictured on their website.  It’s large enough for all the essentials – lipstick, credit cards and keys and totally Parisian chic!

Xoxo…Cortneybre…

Please get fresh with me! A Joe Fresh dress!

Bonjour mon amies!  My dress of the day is by Joe Fresh for JC Penney.  I watched this dress for weeks awaiting its mark down.  Unfortunately, by the time it was marked down there were no dresses available in my size.  Never fear, it was available online and I was quite happy to receive it a few days ago.

The dress is wonderful!  The fabric is sumptuous and looks very expensive.  (Much more expensive than the $23.00 I paid for it!)  To make the dress “work friendly” I paired it with a Vera Wang for Kohl’s Jacket I already owned.  You could easily make this a more casual look by adding a denim jacket and taking it from day to night!

I’ve gotten several compliments on the outfit today and I think it’s a success!  I even had a lady stop me as she was driving by and tell me how pretty the dress looked.

Happy Humpday!  Cortneybre
