Today’s post is safari inspired. I’ll admit that I just can’t wear khaki without wearing brown leather and cheetah print. That proved to be the case today as well.
I recently bought this beautiful statement necklace at Bealles (similar here from my boutique!). It was a cheapie – only $9.99 – but as much as I loved it I couldn’t find anything that really worked with it. Major fashion fail!
When something like this happens, I take the item, in this case my cheapie necklace, and literally hold it up against item after item in my closet until something works. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this JCREW shirt dress (Old but I like this one) which I bought last year but hadn’t been featured on the blog yet.
I really like this dress, it’s comfortable and fits well and is of a neutral tone. My biggest issue was that it seemed too casual for work and any efforts to dress it up didn’t quite work.
Until….I added this necklace. This necklace was perfect. It nestled nicely inside the dress so it wasn’t too flashy and dressed up the outfit just enough to make it “workable for work”!
In keeping with the safari theme, I wore my cheetah print Banana Republic wedges (identical here) and a brown leather belt.
