A LBD from the LOFT…on Cortneybre…

This might just be the PERFECT little black dress.

Recently, LOFT ran a 60% off their Sale, Sale.  Most people think I spend oodles of money on clothes.  I’ll admit – I do spend some – and possibly more than most.  However, its hard to beat 60% off of an already reduced price.  I bought several items from this sale and this one is my favorite.

When I ordered it, I thought “oh great…like you need yet another black dress”.  This dress IS different though.  It really can be dressed up or down very easily and the faux leather really adds a cosmopolitan element.  I can layer it over leggings and flats or wear it with heels and ruffles.  The possibilities are endless.  It has now gone into the “Go-To” area of my closet for days when I want to look great without a lot of effort.

I can’t forget to mention, especially with Valentine’s Day approaching, this wonderful “Ohh La La” Bella clutch I’m holding by Kate Spade.  This one is no longer for sale on the Kate Spade site although you can find it  here on eBAY.  I’m currently craving  the Love Birds Wink Clutch by Kate Spade also.  Its so extremely stinkin’ cute, I can hardly stand to not buy it right now!

I hope you guys have an excellent weekend!

Don’t forget to follow me at my other media sites also!

Layering…Stripes on Stripes…on Cortneybre…

I love this dress.  It’s comfortable and very versatile.  I’ve worn this dress as a.. uh.. dress.. but also as a skirt and a shirt – during winter and summer.  It dresses up nicely but also looks great with a jean jacket or sandals.

I had a friend approach me the other day about wearing patterns together.  “Is that too much of a good thing?” and all that jazz.  I think anything’s possible when it comes to fashion.  I’ve had outfits that should have worked but didn’t and I’ve had outfits that seemed like crazy visions in my mind until I pulled them together and reaped complimentary rewards.

So, my answer to her was “I dunno…I’d just have to see it”.  Probably not the most helpful, but my greater message was to take the chance, throw caution to the wind and try it on!

I decided to take my own advice on today’s outfit.  I love stripes.  I could wear stripes every day and feel blissfully myself.  Perhaps it’s the duality of the colors, the contrast of the hues which reflects my own inner conflicts and duality.  Quite deep thoughts for my shallow mind!  Regardless of my adoration, I do so love stripes of all combinations and hues.

I took my beloved striped dress and added another equally fancied striped shirt (by Bisou Bisou and on sale at JCP right now…in case you’re interested) and combined the two.  Voila!  A completely new look from and old favorite!

I’m now contemplating other pattern on pattern looks.  Florals on florals, polka dots on polka dots, plaid on plaid.  The possibilities are endless.  That’s a nice thought too.  I like endless possibilities.

Have a great day my lovely readers, one and all!..xoxo…Cortneybre…

A Sneak Peek…Nina McLemore’s Spring 2015 line..on Cortneybre!

Checking out the Spring 2015 line from Nina McLemore at her Buckhead, Atlanta boutique!

Last night, my friend and fellow blogger, LynnChic, and I attended a sneak peek event for Nina McLemore’s Spring 2015 line.  It was such a fun event and I enjoyed meeting new bloggers while viewing Nina’s impressive Spring collection.  Ms. McLemore recently opened her fourteenth store in Atlanta’s prestigious Buckhead area and I was delighted to be invited to the boutique!

This event was actually my first exposure to Nina McLemore.  While perusing the line, I learned more about the Nina McLemore brand and was fascinated to learn she was the founder of Liz Claiborne Accessories and has dressed some of the most powerful women in the world, including Hillary Clinton!

Her line is designed with women in executive and professional positions in mind.  The tailoring, style, fabrics and colors all reflect this image.  It’s refreshing to find a clothing line designed by a professional woman for professional women!

I was highly impressed with the Spring line.  Nina McLemore is a great brand and her clothing is a cornerstone for anyone’s closet.  If you are looking to build your wardrobe with finely crafted classic pieces, this is the brand.  You can truly, “Dress to Impress” with the Nina McLemore line.

These timeless staples project success and confidence.  Women can be powerful, professional, accomplished and also look feminine and beautiful.  Nina McLemore has designed a line that allows women to be sexy, smart, successful and stylish!

And now for the clothes!  For those of you who read my blog regularly, you know how much I love color and I was happy to see an array of beautiful pinks, blues and plaids in this line.  Gone are the days of black and grey suits and numbing neutrals.

My fave pieces were the beautiful Swiss Cotton Equestrian Stretch Suzanne jacket and the Plaid Silk Dupioni Cara shirt.  Both pieces are spectacular; well-made and gorgeous.  The Cara shirt is made of dupioni silk from India and is absolutely beautiful.

I want to thank A. Brown-Olmstead Associates for inviting me to this event!  Ms. Brown-Olmstead was a wonderful hostess.

I also want to thank Liz Haddon of Nina McLemore for her hospitality and fine presentation of the Spring Line.  A special “shout out” to a new-found blogger friend, Kimberly, at Be Fashionable, Be Frugal!

Happy in Boden Blue and Polka Dots!

Hello my friends!  Hope you’re faring well during this cold winter!  The holidays are behind us…if only for a few months and I’m excited my schedule has calmed a bit.

I’m now fighting the battle to stay warm and stylish, especially when its much easier and more comfortable to bundle up in thick, shapeless attire.  However…I refuse to succumb and on this particular day, I chose a polka dotted shirt by Boden to brighten up this drab climate!

I am absolutely in love with Boden’s new Spring line.  I have several items in my cart now just awaiting purchase.  Check out their new Spring line here!  The Grace Skirt and Alice High Heels are a must have!

Until Spring arrives, my new winter staple, and one which I cannot believe I didn’t come upon before, is fleece lined tights!

I stumbled upon a treasure trove of them at Marshall’s a few weeks ago and I’ve worn them almost every single day since that time.

I actually find tights more comfortable than jeans or pants so I’m enjoying the comfort they bring as well as the warmth!  As with today’s outfit, don’t forget to add color!  I love these fleece lined navy blue tights by Steve Madden.  Buy them here or check out your local Marshalls!

Another way of adding color is with a bright bag!  I think this tomato red bag by Olivia + Joy does the trick nicely.  Similar here!

Additionally, the collar and sleeves of this Boden shirt are pink and white gingham, which adds a little punch of unexpected color also!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
