Travels with Tory B & Cortneybre -Solvang, CA

This past weekend we visited the beautiful city of Solvang, California in the Santa Ynez Valley! Solvang is Danish for “sunny field” and the city is just that. The day was warm and sunny with a wonderful cool breeze and bright skies. The town itself is sophisticated yet whimsical.

One of the many charming windmills in Solvang…

It’s a wonderful little city that displays facades and buildings reflecting traditional Danish style. I was enamored with the traditional Scandinavian aesthetic imbued in almost every aspect of the town.

Solvang History
Solvang, CA was founded in 1911 on almost 9,000 acres of the Rancho San Carlos de Jonata Mexican land grant, by a group of Danes who traveled west to establish a Danish community far from the midwestern winters. The city is home to a number of bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California. The architecture of many of the façades and buildings reflects traditional Danish style. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Andersen. A replica of Copenhagen’s Round Tower or Rundetårn in the scale 1:3 was finished in 1991 and can be seen in the town center. (credit: Wikipedia)

I wanted to be comfortable as I knew we’d be doing quite a bit of walking but also classy enough to hang out at the local winery so I decided to wear this beautiful Tory Burch dress I bought recently. I paired this with a strappy pair of Franco Sarto sandals.

I must have picked the last one in this style but Tory has two other beautiful dresses in this print and on sale! Check the print out here! And here!

Per Tory Burch… DETAILS- Printed in a toile of safari scenes and exotic animals, this Shift Dress nods to the season’s theme: adventurous summer getaways taken by Tory’s parents, Buddy and Reva Robinson.

The bag is also Tory Burch and was a splurge but it is a great summer to winter bag!

Tory Burch Miller Bucket Bag

Annnd…of course, it must be really, really popular because its also sold out (sorry!!) but a very similar bag is available here and in solid colors!

I especially love the Port and Malachite versions of his bag!

Thanks for coming along with me on this trip!

Solvang is such a wonderful city and we had a fantastic time exploring.

I actually even got stopped and asked if I was modeling for Tory Burch, lol! I guess my bag and my “testing the light” poses in one of the hotels made an impression and I was very flattered!
