A charming lemon themed necklace and bracelet….from Charming Charlie on Cortneybre!

Hello everyone!  I’ve not blogged in a while as I needed to take a little “me” time to bring myself back together.

Sometimes you need to just take a break from everything to figure out what really matters!

Regardless, I’m back and featuring a wonderful and “charming” necklace and bracelet set from Charming Charlie!

I am constantly on the lookout for bright and whimsical items with just a little bit of cheek!

I fell in love with this set with its bright colors and fun designs!  The little sparkly pineapple accents are too fun!

I paired my accessories with a simple look – yellow skirt and white cotton blouse.

I also added a punch of color with my green Louenhide bag!  I was very lucky to have snatched up a cute scarf in the frenzy that was LillyGate (Lilly Pulitzer for Target) and thought it added a really cute vibe to the bag.

I simply folded the scarf and wrapped it around one of the handles.

I then tied off each end and voila’  – instant interest!

Hope you’re having a great Monday!

When Life Gives You Lemons…a Lemon Print Shirt on Cortneybre…

There is an old saying…when life gives you lemons…make lemonade.  I’ve recently been handed a lemon…and while I don’t want to go into too much detail until I know more, I will admit it’s gotten me down a bit.

In an effort to comfort myself, I decided to go shopping – my go-to retail therapy approach that usually perks me back up.  While shopping at Belk – one of my fave stores – and perusing their isles I saw this cute and whimsical lemon print shirt by Jones and Company.

It was a sign from the universe…

lemons1…and it made me feel much, much better.  My spirits lifted just a little.

So into my buggy it went and onto my body the next day!  I thought this bright green LouenHide bag was the perfect match!

I topped the lemon print off with a lace overlay blouse from LOFT and added a cute and flirty skirt from JCREW.

I hope you’re having a great week!  xx…

Transitioning to Fall…texture, color and layering…

With Fall quickly approaching and the weather temperatures fluctuating it is quite the chore to dress appropriately.  I typically find myself freezing and as I work in an office, jackets and sweaters are a must.

Jacket and Skirt: Simply Vera by Vera Wang  Blouse: Ann Taylor  Shoes: Franco Sarto  Bag: Kate Spade

Today’s outfit is one of my most versatile.  I’ve worn this combo during the winter with taupe tights and boots as well as during this past Summer by losing the jacket and adding cute wedges.

I love the layering and dimension of this outfit.  There is a lot going on but with muted colors, you can amp up the patterns and make the look more interesting.  Don’t be afraid to mix and match similar colors and textures!

The jacket and skirt from this post are both by Simply Very, by Very Wang @Kohls.  It’s a great brand…with lots of beautiful textures and colors.  Check it out here!

Oh!  And one more thing…my family and I are heading to the beach this fine Labor Day weekend for one last Summer hurrah!  There will be more blog posts next week but check me out on Instagram or Twitter @Cortneybreblog also as I’ll be updating those daily!

Today’s look is pattern on pattern…it just happens to be the same pattern. (That’s quite the mouthful!)

Recently Ann Taylor LOFT had an excellent 60% off sale and I stumbled upon this stylish floral patterned bustier dress and button up blouse.

The price was right and I’d been searching for a patterned look for some time.

In order to make the dress work friendly I simply tied the blouse in front and added a belt. The best bit is that these pieces can be worn separately or together!

Check out the blouse here and the dress here ! Xoxo…Happy Hump Day! Cortneybre…

I’ve been bedazzled by ShoeDazzle…

Shirt: Forever21, Skirt: Ann Taylor, Bag: Kate Spade, Watch: Kate Spade, Sunnies: Franco Sarto, Lipstick: MAC Russian Red, Heels: ShoeDazzle, Sophia&Lee

So..it’s Friday and I haven’t posted all week! Ugh. My daughter started back to school this week and it’s just been a whirlwind. But. I did have time to do a bit of shopping and you’ll be seeing some of my new outfits in upcoming posts!

Today’s post is all about the shoes. Part of my recent shopping involved quite the spree on ShoeDazzle!

If you’re not familiar with Shoedazzle, it is a shoe club that allows you to buy very trendy shoes at a nicely discounted price! A win-win right!?!

There are a few rules. If you become a VIP member, you are charged a flat monthly fee of $39.95, all of which is applied to your future shoe purchases. You can also opt to “skip” a month if you do not want to contribute to your account that month but you have to remember to go onto their website and do so before the 5th of every month or you’re charged.

*I forgot for about 6 months and had a few hundred dollars in my shoe bank that I didn’t really budget for originally. Whoops….

You also get 75% off your first item and free shipping if you’re a new customer. Thereafter, you got 10-25% off all full priced styles as well as additional sales. Shipping is always free to VIP members.

There are online stylists that recommend shoes to you based upon your preferences and a few designers that design lines exclusively for ShoeDazzle, such as Gwen Stefani’s brand GX and Rachel Zoe (who is their chief stylist).

I highly recommend the site, especially if you like unique, trendy and affordable styles!

If you’re looking for more conservative and long lasting shoes, this probably isn’t the site for you. Their shoes hold up well but aren’t the highest quality. However, I wear a lot of trendy looks and I like to buy what is trending at the moment so I have A LOT of shoes. I can’t afford to spend $50+ for every pair so Shoe Dazzle is a great place to get the style you want but at a heavily discounted price!

Recently, the site ran a $20 sale and I scooped up 6 pairs of excellent heels and wedges! Today’s look showcases one of these buys.

Check out these gold beauties! Don’t you just love them?! Gold, strappy and block heeled…and oh so in the moment. They are surprisingly comfortable too! I thought they dressed up this black and white combo nicely! Check them out here!

Ta ta, my friends! Hope you have a most excellent weekend and I promise there is more to come! In the meantime…give ShoeDazzle a gander…you won’t regret it!

The Power of Peplum…

Peplum top: Cynthia Rowley  Necklace: Chloe+Isabel  Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT  Shoes: ColeHaan Nike Air
Watch: Kate Spade  Bag: Kate Spade  Sunnies: UnionBay

I just love peplum tops. I don’t care if they go out of style….I’m still wearing them. If only for the way they define your waist and cover any little extra tummy you may have. If peplum could talk it would say, “it’s ok that you ate that extra cupcake today…you’ve got me to cover you up and you look great”!

Today’s post was actually taken a couple of weeks ago but never posted as I was too busy to blog. Sad…yeah…I know… Thankfully, I was able to work on blogging this week and post it before it became obsolete. I guess this is a Throwback Thursday post without actually being one…but I digress.

Back to peplums and their perfection. Another wonderful and important peplum trait is that they’re very versatile. I’ve worn this particular top with jeans, skirts and shorts.

It’s a wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or down.

Today’s look was inspired by the Chloe + Isabel necklace I’m wearing in the pictures. Get it here !

This necklace is unique and so beautiful.  It reminds me of Art Deco with an Egyptian twist. I like to buy items that are essentially conversation starters.

This necklace definitely fit that description! I had lots of people ask me about it and want to have a closer look.

A friend of mine posted a saying on her Facebook account recently…it’s from a book called Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell….

This is how I feel about my outfits and myself in general. My attire is a direct expression of me. How I feel, what I represent, who I am …at least for that moment…is pushed out of my head and onto my body.

This necklace was one of those ways I could funnel myself into one wearable piece.

Hope everyone’s having a great Thursday…hang in there…Friday is right around the corner!

On the dot!

Dress: Ann Taylor LOFT Shoes: MIA Bag: Kate Spade NY Earrings: Bealles Sunnies: Union Bay Cardigan: Wet Seal

Dress: Ann Taylor LOFT  Shoes: MIA  Bag/Watch: Kate Spade NY  Earrings: Bealles  Sunnies: Union Bay  Cardigan: Wet Seal

Hello dear readers!

Today’s look is decidedly more sunny and bright! I’ve had this yellow dotted Ann Taylor LOFT dress for several months but hadn’t worn it yet because of…uh…some strange reason.

I actually bought the dress to wear on a Disney cruise my family and I went on last October. I thought it was just perfect and that Minnie Mouse would approve!

The dress is made out of a beautiful, linen-like fabric which is a bit sheer even with its fabric underlay (dig out that slip!). I find it’s very comfortable but runs really large. Tip: I find that all of LOFT’s clothes run really big and that my size 6 is actually a 4 or even a 2 there depending on the item. For the best fit, I’d recommend trying on their items before purchasing if possible!

In order to make the dress work friendly, I paired it with a sparkly, bejeweled cardigan from Wet Seal. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever even been in Wet Seal before. It’s not really my style and seems a tad too “young” for me. That being said, this cardigan was a nice surprise and was a gift from my friend, Sara’s, closet. Thank you Sara! Your gifted clothes just keep giving and giving!

I added my nude MIA heels and a pair of sparkly earrings to finish off the look.

If you’d like to take a look or purchase the dress, I’d highly recommend it…just keep in mind the sizes run large. Click here to access the dress on LOFT’s site – I think it’s sold out now but it could come back in stock online possibly or you might find it in store.

I plan on experimenting with this dress more in the future. I think I’ll try to pair it with a black and white striped jacket or perhaps a floral jacket or blouse. Who knows what you’ll find in my future posts!

Hope you’re enjoying your Tuesday! Xoxo…Cortneybre..
