Wedding (Guest! or Bride!) Shopping Ideas

Hello everyone!

I’m working thru some important changes – starting back to school…while working part-time… and blogging (although I’ve been remiss lately and I’m trying to get back on track)!

But…the world waits for no one and I have a wedding coming up in a few months so I though I’d showcase some of the looks I’m considering! I actually am looking into doing some short videos & (after I work out the sound issue I’m having) I’ll be posting some videos!

The first look I’m showcasing comes from one of my fave brands, ASOS.  Actually, I did a little ASOS haul and so I think all of my fave looks  – that might possibly make the cut –  are ASOS!

If you’ve never shopped ASOS, check out the site but be forewarned..there is a lot of product there and it can be very overwhelming!  My video will showcase some of the tips I use to help me navigate the site.

First – what is the event that I’m attending?  I’m actually taking an advanced public speaking class and we talked a lot today about “knowing your audience”.  It’s interesting because I was thinking how much this applies to styling, as well as giving a good speech!  So, know your audience attending the event!

It’s soon to be Spring wedding season…and no matter if you’re the bride, bridesmaid, or a guest…you should start shopping now for the perfect look!  I’ve been amazed how quickly pieces that I like but I wait to buy because I’m not sure if I loovvvee them go…away!!  I’ve also had two items that I bought – had shipped quickly – received, styled and quickly posted get bought out before I posted them!

So…word to the wise…buy the dress, the shirt or shoes!  And if they don’t work out, return them but don’t let them get away!

Let’s get to this dress though!  Here’s the specs!

  • It’s so comfy & totally forgiving (in all the right ways).  I love the way it fits – loose but with a nice drape.  It’s well proportioned and true to size!
  • The COLOR: it’s a beautiful fuchsia & has the most beautiful sheen.  And it has full multi-colored embroidered flowers which are beautifully done and go up the front and back of the dress extending to one of the sleeves.
  • Speaking of SLEEVES: they’re a bat wing style sleeve.  Now that sounds like it isn’t pleasant but they’re actually quite beautiful!

Styling:  I went light on all of the other accessories as the dress is a show stopper on its own!  I’m into brooches right now and so I added a Chanel inspired brooch and I think it really added that little bit of sparkle that completed the look!  I was also very excited to try out my new fave mules (actually, I have two new pair but these are slightly my fave, fave).

As always, please shop my look by going to http://www.liketoknow.it/Cortneybre and you can shop directly from there!  Or it will direct you to ASOS and you can shop their entire site!  00000IMG_00000_BURST20200118151356074_COVER

Frigid Fashion

Staying warm in this frigid winter weather can be difficult.  Especially when one is taking outfit pictures outside in the elements!  Today’s post is short and sweet and I must admit that I was trying really hard not to grimace while taking these shots.

One thing I’ve realized is that scuba material (neoprene) is quite warm, especially if its thick.  Today’s post features one of my favorite ASOS purchases – a bright pink neoprene skirt. Similar here!

When paired with fleece lined tights, the wind was somewhat bearable as I posed.  I also layered a turtleneck under my tweed jacket.

My biggest secret for keeping warm is layering.

Layering 1WHAT you are layering makes a HUGE difference though.  I’ve been layering my athletic workout wear – think dark fitted tops and leggings – under my everyday outfits – even jeans!  These types of fabrics were designed to hold in heat and provide an extra layer of protection against the cold.  They are also totally unnoticeable!

Under this fab jacket, I have on a Qualifier Turtleneck by Under Armour.  It looks great and keeps me warmer without the bulk!

Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!  Yay!  It’s Friday!

Bonjours and Bows….

Bonjour belle!  Comment allez-vous!?

The weather is getting colder and the colors are slowly fading from my world.  I’m counteracting the downturn in the weather by dressing a little more whimsical and fun.

I found this wonderful shirt that just fits perfectly at JCPenney.  It was a must buy…and I couldn’t wait to feature it on the blog!

Check it out here!

What a delightful shirt..it’s an Eiffel Tower print with little French sayings….cute, cute cute!

As for my other fave look of the moment.  I’m a big fan of statement necklaces but one really can’t wear a statement necklace with such a standout shirt.  When you still need a little accent to set the outfit, try a simple piece of ribbon tied as a bow.

I’ve been wearing this look a lot lately and I think it perfectly balances out and lightens up an outfit.  You can mix it up with different colored ribbons and even tie multiple ribbons/bows for a bigger look.

Wanna shop this look!  Check out the links below!

Shirt: Eiffel Tower by JCP  Skirt:  Banana Republic  Shoes:  ASOS Heels..LOVE these!

Hope you’re having a great week!  Au Revoir!

Shirts I would buy if it were payday….

Happy Friday!  As the title of this post implies, I’m broke as a joke and therefore window shopping.  Or would that be “screen/monitor shopping”…regardless…I’m a’looking but I ain’t buying.

I am, however, filling my ASOS online shopping cart with items I would buy if I could possibly do so and still make my car payment this month.

Wanna see what I would get if I could get it!?

Okay…here goes…

This, my friends, is THE Fashion Blogger Sweat Shirt.  It is perfect in proportion and frankly..looks pretty comfy.  I totally think I could rock this with a brightly colored skirt….totally.

Obviously this shirt is a MUST.  In fact, I’d really expect ASOS to send this to me for free…it’s the least they could do considering my ASOS loyalty.

Next…the Pom Pom Shirt.  It’s a shirt.  It has pom poms.  Buy. it. now.  I guarantee everyone will compliment it but no one will replicate it.

The Mohair Plaid Sweater …I love the colors and plaid is SO in right now.  Beautiful, right?  If you were to buy the shirt and the skirt…it would be perfectly understandable.

Want work wear that is actually interesting?  Try this Lace Sleeved Shirt.  Very feminine but totally functional.  The look of layers without the bulk.  Beautiful.

This shirt is aptly named: Criminal Damage Sweatshirt.  I want it.  Really want it.  All I can think is Versace.  Versace for me.  If its criminal to want this shirt, I don’t wanna be right.

And finally the Piece de Resistance..the Burn Out Florals Blouse.

Why do I love this so much you may ask?  Ever see the movie, Curse of the Golden Flower?  (If not..get to Google-ing and check the images…the yellow embroidered chrysanthemum flowers are reason enough to see the movie).

This shirt is the pink embodiment of that movie.  Its wearable art and it is beautiful.  I’d love to wear this over a fitted white button up and greet everyone with a nin hao!
