A Casual Look…for a day at the movies…

Well this is my belated Monday post…because Mondays will be Mondays and mine have been over-the-top lately!

But let’s forget Monday…in fact let’s drift back to Sunday…my daughter and I spent a fabulous day Sunday visiting the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.  During the Summer, the Fox offers showings of iconic films of days gone by.

We opted for a midday showing of Mary Poppins, which included a “sing-a-long”.  Who knew singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious with an audience of a few hundred people could be so fun!

Before the show, we explored the beautiful Fox Theater, which was originally built as a Shrine Temple but instead opened as a lavish movie theatre in 1929.

It is quite a sight to behold with its Moorish design and beautifully rendered Egyptian styling.  My daughter and I had fun exploring the exterior of the theatre and snapping a few shots for the blog along the way!

Something interesting to note is that I’m wearing jeans in this post.  I do believe I’ve only written one other post that consists of jeans…out of about 160 posts!

These happen to be a fave pair of mine and, along with the shirt, I’m wearing JCREW jeans (listed here) and a JCREW blouse.  (find it here and on sale!).  I dressed it up with a statement necklace (Chloe+Isobel here) and a pair of cheetah kitten heels (old but similar here!   Well…I must away..spit, spot!…Cortneybre…

ASOS…I love you so….

This is not a poodle skirt! I repeat, it’s not a poodle skirt!

Obviously, I’ve gotten that comment several times today. No…instead it’s quite the find from ASOS and I hate to say….it’s sold out. However, let me be the first (or perhaps the one hundredth) to regale you with the virtues of ASOS.

 ASOS:

#1: They offer unusual and trendy styles

#2: They offer unusual and trendy styles at affordable prices (with tons of sales too!)

#3: They have a wonderful “Fashion Finder” section with Style news, style inspiration, blogger style challenges and a “create-a-style” builder!

#4: Free shipping for orders over $25 (as if anyone would not spend over $25!)

#5: Their Marketplace site offers unique and vintage pieces from independent boutiques from around the world!

So now you know how much I love ASOS. Just based on this skirt alone, I’d love it!

Today’s look pairs the ASOS pink, midi scuba skirt with an Ann Taylor shirt (yes, it does say “love” on it but if one must have something scrawled across one’s boobs, let it be “love”), MIA heels and my Chloe+Isabel torsade necklace.

Add a twirl and you’re ready for the day!

 Xoxo..Cortneybre…

Not Quite 50…Shades of Gray

I’m wearing a gray ensemble today….it’s not a reflection of my mood I must add…rather it is what came together as I pulled together my outfit this hurried morn. While I’m not wearing 50 shades of gray (no…nothing that exciting happening…), I am wearing 5 shades of gray ranging from pewter to metallic and a few shades in between.

I think the not so “matchy-matchy” shades actually add texture and definition and the outfit most likely would have looked very uniform had the colors matched exactly. So..yay!….it worked and I was able to add a splash of color with my bright pink Kate Spade belt.

Speaking of Kate Spade (do you know how many conversations I’ve begun this way…), in case you didn’t see my Saturday quick pic post, I was fortunate enough to travel the 3 hours round trip to a Kate Spade outlet store! In honor of me, as Mother’s Day is approaching, my wonderful hubby gifted me with a little shopping spree at this wonderful store and I was much obliged to take advantage of his gift as soon as possible!

After I looked at everything at least 5 times and picked up/put down several bags, I decided upon this lovely bag you see in the pictures before you. I think it is just wonderful! Structured and neutral but feminine and just a teensy bit “Celine-eque” in shape. Plus it was outlet priced and on sale for 40% off!

I must confess I bought two other bags and a cute bracelet also but more about them in a future post! Hope you’re having a great day! Xoxo…Cortneybre…
