Guess who is a rewardStyle FASHION INFLUENCER…

I was going to type a very long post about my style blogging journey.  And that is coming, I promise (actually, this one turned out pretty long too, lol).  However, I think that post is for another time.

This post is to share a very, very special announcement.  Actually, one that I didn’t expect to most likely ever publish.  I’ve been accepted as a STYLE INFLUENCER for rewardStyle.

I say this without any exclamation points because…I’m honestly in shock.  I never expected to be able to actually be on an influencer platform.  I never, ever expected to see my face – tagged as a style influencer – on the same sites as influencers that I admire, follow constantly and from whom I take daily inspiration.

So…I’m in shock and I might break out in hives….hopefully not as that doesn’t look very pretty in blog posts.

So…here’s what you need to know!

  • I’ll be re-posting many of my looks  – especially on Instagram
    • please, please be patient with me!  I’ll be doing this to ensure my recent looks are added to the shopping app – LiketoKnow.it
  • Please, PLEASE download the LIKEtoKNOW.it app on your phone.  This and one other app are the only platforms around that allow you to shop from Instagram and other social sites – including my blog.
  • Once downloaded, set up your profile and choose the ” match my screenshots” option!
  • Go to my Instagram page – @Cortneybreblog and simply screenshot my posts!  I just published my first “ReGram” so that you can start shopping from that post!
  • Go back to your LIKEtoKNOW.it app and search Influencers (omgggg…I’m one of those now!) and type in Cortneybre.  You’ll then see my name pop up and be able to follow me!
  • Also, your screenshot of my Insta look should automatically pop up and you can shop from that as well! (it might take a couple of refreshes to get this to happen – the app reads your screenshots for the LiketoKnow.it tag and imports it)

Here’s what you’ll see:

  • You’ll now be able to easily shop the looks I’m wearing directly from this app!
  • Just click on the item you like and it links you directly to the site!  There are several other options too…you can create favorites and collection boards of looks you like from lots of style influencers!

I can’t express how GRATEFUL and EXCITED I am about this opportunity!!!!!!!!

You’ll be seeing lots and lots of changes to all of my social media platforms soon.  I will be updating the blog  – some changes have already been made – as well as my Cortneybre Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and possibly Pinterest page.

Please bear with me during these changes and forgive all of the redundant posts!

Lastly, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone – friends, family, co-workers – who have supported me, uplifted me and let me be…Cortneybre!

Also, special thanks to my bestest friend, Adrian….she was my constant companion, blogging buddy and an excellent photographer and I miss her dearly- and many more friends – every day.

Please know that this is my passion and to realize it – even if just a little is a life changer for me.

Much love to you all and thank you for following along with me on my life & style journey!

Bright Tights, Big City

Bright light, big city, gone to my baby’s head
Whoa, bright light, an’big city, gone to my baby’s head
I tried to tell the woman, but she don’t believe a word I said (Jimmy Reed, 1961)

My LOOK!

Brooks Brothers Camel Hair Jacket          Ankle length slacks – H&M

Calvin Klein Sandals                                  A New Day turtleneck – Target

STYLEGAGA Tights – Amazon               Tory Burch Perry Bag – similar here

J.Crew Necklace – similar here

It’s no surprise that I’m a shopper… and I thought I was totally “in the know” on most shopping sites and niches until I recently discovered Amazon Fashion.  Specifically, The Drop, on Amazon.com.  It debuted in June 2019 – I think before I started blogging again so somehow I must have missed it during my hiatus!

I stumbled upon it (despite being on Amazon constantly to order boring things like refrigerator filter refills) when Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific linked a pair of her fantastically colorful tights to Amazon.  Check out her post here on her fave tights!

As you can tell from the pictures…I bought the tights!  It’s actually a 6-pack of different colors – yellow, orange, pink, red, blue and green – all very, very bright.  Buy them here – STYLEGAGA Tights !!  There is also a multi-pack of pastel colors which I’m most likely going to purchase….how can I not!?

I LOVE the look of layering bright colors – and I think this look in particular is very clever.  Color blocking or a two-toned look is a popular trend that is a little edgy but so, so fun!  People are surprised when I wear tights with sandals in the winter, or “off-season”.  In my mind – as I explain to them – the tights convert the sandals into boots, basically?  That might sound strange but it actually functions very similarly.

There are also the other *perks* – I am one of those “cold all of the time, even in summer” people so having an extra layer under jeans/slacks or a skirt helps a lot.  And these are just sheer enough to not be too thick or heavy so they’re perfect for layering.

Another hot look this season is actually quite a classic.  Different twists on the revered Burberry tartan plaid are very popular and you’ll see this pattern everywhere.  These H&M slacks are a perfect example…I love the broad orange stripe!  Also, the fit is spot on with these…they run true to size and actually fit me perfectly (I usually find the waist gaps on a lot of brands).

Lastly, if you buy anything this season, buy something that will last you for years and never go out of style!  I bought this Brooks Brothers camel hair blazer on eBay a few years ago.  It’s a circa late 80’s or early 90’s blazer – I purposefully bought it because of the over-sized cut and shoulder pads but Brooks Brothers has a beautiful similar blazer on their site now.  It’s certainly an investment piece but it looks good with everything…every year…every time.

Have a great week!  And give something bright a try!  A lot of people think they can’t wear bright colors for some strange reason…but I bet you’ll get lots of compliments and envious looks if you do!  xoxo…

Not to just be “noticed” but…perhaps actually flagged down while driving and told to roll down your window (you don’t of course) and then to be mouthed at… thru a dusty window…”you’re beautiful…”

So…just let yourself be that person…and this is it…this is THE WAY to that moment.

The way to happy and bright.  To chic and swingy.  To sophisticated and whimsy.

Transitioning Summer to Fall…

Isaac Mizrahi Dress Target

First things first:

Isaac Mizrahi Dress for Target XXO Collection

JCrew Blazer

It doesn’t matter which coast you’re on right now…it seems everyone is suffering through the “chilly in the mornin’ and hot enough to make you sweat afternoon” blues.

I find that the “transitional” periods of the year are challenging when it comes to choosing my daily wardrobe.  However, I’m slowly realizing that although it’s challenging, it is actually pretty exciting!

I tasked myself with taking some of my favorite summer pieces and working them into my transition wardrobe.  This unexpectedly resulted into some of my best looks recently!

This look was born out of trying desperately to wear this Isaac Mizrahi Target XXO dress as long as – weather permitting – possible. I LOVE, LOVE this dress.  The pattern is just so bright and the dress is made of a beautiful silk fabric that looks far more riche than a Target find.

I’ll be honest…I’ve tagged the heck out of my Isaac Mizrahi Target XXO pieces on Instagram.  I have dreams of being recognized as that Tiffany diamond in the rough, meeting the iconic Isaac and being welcomed into the fashion fold.  Moving to NYC…pushing racks of beautifully designed, tailored pieces, lovingly stitched and artfully cut clothing..carefully covered in plastic across a busy SOHO street…

maybe this will be that post!

So….as far as this dress…I really examined the colors in the dress and it struck me that the colors were very fall….imagine a kaleidoscope of changing leaves as you take a leisurely  drive through the mountains (especially North Georgia or Tennessee!)

So with Fall in mind, I grabbed a fantastic two-tone JCrew blazer (because let’s face it, JCrew makes a great blazer) ; grabbed a pair of brown leather Franco Sarto boots and a matching GAP belt…and it just worked!

I went from Summer party pretty to Fall business forum fellow!

XoXo!!
