Monogramming Makes it Work!

Today’s outfit is a colorful skirt and button up shirt ensemble. From afar, one would possibly think that I’ve gone mad or either dressed in the dark as the outfit is a contrast of color.

The one itsy, bitsy detail that ties the entire outfit together is the monogram! It perfectly matches the pink skirt I’m wearing and really pops against the blue/green/purple of the shirt.

Ahhh…what a beautiful Wednesday we’re having today! It’s warm, the sun is shining and Spring has finally taken hold.

I decided to wear one of my recent ASOS purchases today. It’s a beautiful bright pink, midi, scuba skirt (what a mouthful!). I bought it a few months ago and I’ve featured it several times on the blog. I’m quite pleased with its versatility as I’ve been able to pair it with lots of different tops and its gotten much use.

One piece of advice – if you buy this skirt (and unfortunately I think it’s sold out now but if you do find one like it), be prepared for compliments, LOTS of compliments! I’ve been literally chased down from afar to be asked about this skirt. (check it out here!)

Today’s look was more of a classic and simple one. I paired the skirt with a button up blouse with ruffled cuffs (old but I love this one), a skinny black belt and my cap toed, tan and black Kate Spade wedges (buy them here!). Of course, pearls were needed and that helped complete the look! (old but love, love, love this one at my boutique!)

I also brought out one of my most prized possessions, my Louis Vuitton bag. I don’t wear it often but I was in the mood for a little extra class today!

A Daffodil Yellow Cardi with D-I-Y Boyfriend Jeans….

I’m trying to mentally WILL Spring into existence here. It seems to possibly be working although it’s still cold and chilly out but the flowers are finally starting to bud and bloom.

I “planted” …haha..bad pun..myself by my azalea bush today and snapped a few pictures of a cute cardigan I recently picked up from Belk. The cardigan is made by crown and Ivy (get it here) and is a beautiful, bright yellow with white detailing.

I paired it with a black and white, geometrical, sheer blouse and white jeans.

I really love the boyfriend jeans look but honestly (and don’t shudder), I don’t really care for jeans. They are just not that comfy for me; I much prefer dresses/skirts to jeans any day.

That being said, I have just a few pairs of jeans that I really, really like and this pair falls into that category. The issue with these jeans is that they are boot cut – and boot cut ain’t in right now. (Not unless you are actually wearing boots..but still…I’d rather have a tapered leg).

So, I decided to turn the boot cut jeans into boyfriend jeans (sorta) by rolling and tucking the fronts of the pants legs. Worked like a charm! Or at least I thought so. I felt I had a geek chic thing going on!

I also had on my prized Kate Spade, cap toed, wedges – which I covet and love. I hated to even walk on the dirty ground in these shoes…poor shoes – to be subjected to such a harsh environment!

Looking tres Parisian in Kate Spade!

I was told today that I looked very Parisian and I guess that was the look for which I was going. I’m still suffering from a case of supreme jealousy as a friend of mine is going to Paris and I’m…not.

But…zut alors…c’est dommage as my French teacher used to say and so when one can’t GO to Paris, one DRESSES as if she’s going to Paris!

I also needed an outfit to wear with my new Kate Spade clutch purse and this one fit the bill!

I actually accidentally wore a lot of Kate Spade today. As in…Kate Spade shoes, necklace, clutch, watch and earrings. I didn’t realize I was becoming so “Kate” until I started my post and was labeling my pictures. Still…there are worse things!
