Cortneybre…in Countryside Chic Wish…

I really do try to not check out the Chic Wish website.  I seriously need to save some of my pay check for the future.  What can I say, I’m an addict!  I just LOVE their clothes.  Their fabrics, cuts and unique pieces are just…me.

Today’s dress from Chic Wish took quite a while to make it to me from across the sea.  I was very eager for it to arrive and I wasn’t disappointed!

I love to buy pieces that are unique and this dress definitely fits into that category.  Notice the beautiful and quaint English countryside scene on the skirt?  The extra detailing at the nape of the neck?  The dress is made of a beautiful (and warm) brocade fabric which is nice during this time of year.

Today I paired it with boots by Nine West, my beautiful tobacco brown Kate Spade bag and a woven leather belt by Gap.

Measuring Up

Fit: Chic Wish runs small.  I typically wear a small in the US and needed a large in this dress.  I find their clothes run one size smaller in the waist however, if you’re busty or have curves you might want to order two sizes up.

Fabric: Beautiful print and brocade but very rigid.  The fabric does not stretch at all so as I said before, you will need to order up if you’re in doubt of your size.

Length: Perfect!  I am 5’ 6” and I thought the length was spot on.  I loved the flare of the skirt.

Price Point:  What I REALLY love about Chic Wish is their affordability!  This dress is on sale for $49.90.  You can’t beat it!

Overall impression:  Totally love it!  I had several people – including men which was a little odd – ask where I bought the dress.  I do think that even the men, really wanted to know!  Some of my friends were disappointed that this was the largest size in this dress.  I also ordered another Chic Wish dress and can’t wait to receive it!

A LBD from the LOFT…on Cortneybre…

This might just be the PERFECT little black dress.

Recently, LOFT ran a 60% off their Sale, Sale.  Most people think I spend oodles of money on clothes.  I’ll admit – I do spend some – and possibly more than most.  However, its hard to beat 60% off of an already reduced price.  I bought several items from this sale and this one is my favorite.

When I ordered it, I thought “oh great…like you need yet another black dress”.  This dress IS different though.  It really can be dressed up or down very easily and the faux leather really adds a cosmopolitan element.  I can layer it over leggings and flats or wear it with heels and ruffles.  The possibilities are endless.  It has now gone into the “Go-To” area of my closet for days when I want to look great without a lot of effort.

I can’t forget to mention, especially with Valentine’s Day approaching, this wonderful “Ohh La La” Bella clutch I’m holding by Kate Spade.  This one is no longer for sale on the Kate Spade site although you can find it  here on eBAY.  I’m currently craving  the Love Birds Wink Clutch by Kate Spade also.  Its so extremely stinkin’ cute, I can hardly stand to not buy it right now!

I hope you guys have an excellent weekend!

Don’t forget to follow me at my other media sites also!

Layering…Stripes on Stripes…on Cortneybre…

I love this dress.  It’s comfortable and very versatile.  I’ve worn this dress as a.. uh.. dress.. but also as a skirt and a shirt – during winter and summer.  It dresses up nicely but also looks great with a jean jacket or sandals.

I had a friend approach me the other day about wearing patterns together.  “Is that too much of a good thing?” and all that jazz.  I think anything’s possible when it comes to fashion.  I’ve had outfits that should have worked but didn’t and I’ve had outfits that seemed like crazy visions in my mind until I pulled them together and reaped complimentary rewards.

So, my answer to her was “I dunno…I’d just have to see it”.  Probably not the most helpful, but my greater message was to take the chance, throw caution to the wind and try it on!

I decided to take my own advice on today’s outfit.  I love stripes.  I could wear stripes every day and feel blissfully myself.  Perhaps it’s the duality of the colors, the contrast of the hues which reflects my own inner conflicts and duality.  Quite deep thoughts for my shallow mind!  Regardless of my adoration, I do so love stripes of all combinations and hues.

I took my beloved striped dress and added another equally fancied striped shirt (by Bisou Bisou and on sale at JCP right now…in case you’re interested) and combined the two.  Voila!  A completely new look from and old favorite!

I’m now contemplating other pattern on pattern looks.  Florals on florals, polka dots on polka dots, plaid on plaid.  The possibilities are endless.  That’s a nice thought too.  I like endless possibilities.

Have a great day my lovely readers, one and all!..xoxo…Cortneybre…

A Crowd Pleaser…in Kate Spade Saturday

Dress: Kate Spade Saturday Bag: Kate Spade New York Heels: Mossimo Sunnies: Franco Sarto
Dress: Kate Spade Saturday  Bag: Kate Spade New York  Heels: Mossimo  Sunnies: Franco Sarto

Fall has descended upon my little town like a wet, soggy blanket of gloom.  It’s hard to be upbeat with day after day of cloudy, rainy skies and dreary winds.  Plus, it makes taking a good outfit post almost impossible.

It was on one of these gloomy days last week that I shot this look.  I’m in LOVE with the dress btw…although it was a love/hate relationship at first.  It’s Kate Spade Saturday and I found it heavily discounted at Marshall’s.  (I’ve basically bought all of their KS Saturday wear that I could squeeze into).

So.  This dress…oh this dress!  I will be honest that I put it on…took it off…put it on again….found my Spanx…took it off.  Thought about it for a couple of hours.  Put on my tights …put it back on….and finally decided, “what the hell”, I’m wearing it tomorrow.

Why the hesitation, you may ask?  Well…it’s short…and shorter than I’d typically wear to work which, for me, is where I am most of the time.  So…if it won’t “work” for work, then it won’t work at all.  Aside from the fact that it’s short…it’s also very fitted and getting past the shortness of the skirt was further complicated by the fitted look of the dress.

Obviously…after all of my indecisiveness, I chose to wear the dress anyway. The result:  happily, the dress was a success and I’m happy I kept it!  (I won’t be indulging in any sweets anytime soon if I wish to continue wearing it but that’s a battle best fought later).

Back to my gloomy, no good, very bad day.  (This all ties together I promise).

Picture me…standing on a busy corner, my photographer snapping away and me trying to look posh, long and lean while internally praying it doesn’t rain and/or we don’t get accosted by homeless people.  As I’m switching up my pose, I hear whoops and hollers in the distance and as the noise gets closer…guess who it is??

That’s right.  A bus load (and I mean…every seat is filled) of convicts.  (I’m sure that was your first guess…).

I’d like to think they weren’t violent criminals…perhaps just day traders caught for embezzling or something but I’m sure a mixture of the general prison population was contained in this little capsule of delight.

So..they cat called and yelled although I didn’t hear anything profane or inappropriate.  After one of them started to yell “werk it, girl” (remember…that’s the same thing the drag queen told me the other night..coincidence..perhaps)..I just lost it.

Hence the picture below.

When they finally pulled away from the red light, I waved and they all cheered and thankfully drove on their merry way…back to jail, I’m sure.

So…I guess this dress was a hit?  With the incarcerated crowd at least!
