I switched it up a bit today. No skirt, no heels….pants and oxfords instead. You might think I toned it down with today’s wardrobe choices. Oh no..honey…no way!

Today’s outfit is nothing like me…and everything like me. It’s a feminine version of my most masculine self. It’s me…in drag!

I was surprised to hear lots of feedback about today’s look – most people loved the shoes but seemed to miss my skirts and heels. Funny how your clothing really does define you and people base their opinion of you on your outward appearance. It’s an obvious concept but sometimes I forget just how true that is.

I feel perfectly dandy in my outfit today. I love the androgyny of the look – although who am I kidding…I’m wearing pink gingham, pearls and silver shoes so there’s still plenty of Cortneybre in this outfit! Oh and notice that top button too…its covered with an earring…I didn’t have a brooch that worked and so I made do with an earring substitute!  Just a little DIY for the day!

A little information on my Sam Edelman oxfords…they seemed to garner the most attention today and I must say they are fabulous! I don’t typically wear oxfords or lace ups but these were very comfortable and easy to wear. The color is a bright and shiny metallic silver and they have the cutest little metal SE initials on the heels. I’ve loved Sam Edelman’s shoes since the 1990’s when I was a middle schooler proudly sporting my Sam and Libby bow accented flats around town. Have a great weekend everyone! Xoxo…Cortneybre….

Gingham and Roses – A Mixing of Patterns

001 greeting (1)

Today’s post features one of my favorite skirts.  I happened upon this beautiful print at a JCREW outlet and thought it was so unique.  The skirt is saturated with a beautiful collage of pinks, browns, and yellows.  I’ve been wearing the skirt with a brown shirt – similar to the cardigan I have on today – but I decided to think out of the box and find something more exciting.

As the “pattern-on-pattern” trend is so hot right now, I thought I’d give it a try and wear a pink and white striped gingham button up shirt.  I’ve gotten several compliments and “I’d never think to pair that with that” comments which are a sign of true success!    Xoxo…Cortneybre…
