Days in Pink Satin

Happy Monday – if there is such a thing.  I’m sitting here, eating “a handful of nuts”, which is my daily allotment as I’m trying a 2 week toxic cleanse thing.   Think lots of lemon/cucumber water and NO food.  It’s so bad; I’m eating the nuts one at a time just to savor each and every one.

But this is a fashion blog, right?!  So enough about food and on to today’s post which is an eBay special.

Never underestimate the power of eBay.  I was in search of a satin skirt or dress and after all attempts at finding one in store failed I decided to try eBay.  I did a simple search for satin dresses and this wonderful, bright fuchsia dress popped up!  I think I paid $40 or so for it and couldn’t believe how beautiful the fabric and color was.

I’ve worn it to a few events and decided to wear it to work today paired with a black polka-dotted cardigan to dress it down.  I also separated the belt from the dress and tied it around the cardigan for a more polished look.

There’s something about wearing satin, perhaps its the rustle of the fabric…it just makes me feel special.  And that is much needed on a Monday!  Cortneybre…

Chanel – Black & White & Just So Right …Inspired by Chanel

Who wouldn’t be inspired by Chanel?  It’s a name synonymous with classic style, effortless beauty and sophistication.

Today’s post is inspired by an image I saw on 1stDibs.com.  I typically do not buy white shoes but this pair of Chanel heels caught my eye and how I wish I could purchase them!  To me these shoes whisper of undiscovered alleyways in Paris and lingering kisses in the night air before tip toeing away into a chic hotel.  Inspiring indeed!  Au Revior!  Cortneybre…

Godiva for Breakfast

Oh my!  I’m sitting here eating Godiva chocolate (at 10:36am in the morning too) and I realized that I totally missed posting yesterday! With Christmas quickly approaching, I’ve been busy with last minute shopping and such but still that’s no excuse!  Today’s post features an outfit that I bought almost right off of the rack – which is a rarity for me.  Vera Wang has a line at Kohl’s and although I typically do not buy full outfits “pre-coordinated”, I fell in love with the texture and colors of this jacket and skirt ensemble.

The tricky part was finding a shirt that complimented the other pieces and I was lucky to stumble upon a beautiful shirt at Ann Taylor LOFT which worked perfectly.  I also have on one of my favorite finds, a pair of suede booties by Franco Sarto which are extremely comfortable and versatile.

Unfortunately, these pictures really do not do the outfit justice and I might re-shoot and re-post this outfit another day for better effect.  Well, my chocolate break is done and I have much more to accomplish so I must away.  Have a wonderful day!  Cortneybre…

The Battle of the Kate Spade Belt…

Several months ago I bought the perfect belt.  In fact, for me, it was the Holy Grail of belts.  The heavens parted, birds sang and a soft golden glow emanated from its clasp.  And I found it on sale…ahhhAHHHahhhh…

Enter a bright pink, leather bow belt by Kate Spade.  (See, told you it was intimidating).

After I brought my purchase home, I soon realized the sad truth – no outfit was good enough for this belt.  After several failed attempts, where I removed the belt in exasperation as I headed out the door to start my day, I started to feel as if I would never wear this fabulous find.

I tried the belt with everything but to no avail.  Defeated, I hung my head as I hung the belt up in my closet.  Week after week, I stared longingly at the belt, hanging in my closet with its promises of Kate Spade happiness galloping just out of my grasp.

I finally realized the sad and ridiculous truth – this belt had gotten the best of me.  It had psyched me out, intimidated me, said in its snotty little voice “You can’t wear ME with that” and I wasn’t gonna take it anymore!

So last night I resigned myself to stand up like the fasionista that I am and find something suitable for this…this…accessory!

And so I did find a nice neutral black skirt and blouse to pair with it.  I think the outfit works.  I’ve even gotten several compliments on my ensemble today.

One of the hardest fashion battles I’ve faced has come to an end and victory looks divine.
