Bam!? Or is it Bamm, Bamm?!

Hello readers! Sorry I had to take a little break from the blogging world to tie up some work and personal items. I hope you missed me, for I missed you!

Today’s look is quite a…uh…looker. (Forgive me…I’m shaking off the dust that’s been clogging my blogging brain).

A friend of mine I mentioned in an earlier post, Sara, gifted me with some wonderful pieces from her closet that no longer held her interest. After sifting through her gift bag, I chose a few pieces to make my own – one of which is this lovely tiger print dress.

It’s a Phillip Lim for Target and I must say…it’s certainly attention getting. It was part of the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Collection which debuted mid-2013.

Hence the title of my post….the question is: Is it “Bam!” as in…”in-your-face fabulous”! or is it too “Bamm, Bamm”? As in Barney Rubble’s son from the Flintstone’s.

Let’s hope it’s the former and not the latter! Judging by the feedback I’ve received today I think it is (hopefully)! I must say I’m quite impressed with the fit and feel of the dress. It’s comfortable and fits true to size. I think it’s a flattering cut too which I was worried about since its quite form fitting. Overall, I’m pleased with it!

I kept the jewelry very simple; just a pair of simple stud earrings. And I paired the dress with brown, coppery Steve Madden heels. I didn’t want to add anything to the dress as I felt even the slightest addition could throw the look over the top. …and into Bamm Bamm territory.

I wish this were something you could purchase now or that I could even find a comparable dress for you in case you’re interested in the look. The best I can do is point you in the direction of eBAY and wish you luck (click here). Actually, if you enter into your eBAY search filters, Phillip Lim for Target, you’ll come up with quite a selection. I’m thinking of purchasing the A-line skirt made out of this same fabric from the 3.1 collection if I can find my size on eBAY. Maybe you’ll see it in future posts!

I’ll just pretend I’m Pebbles when I wear it – she did always have the cutest little dinosaur bone accented top knot! Xoxo…Cortneybre…

I wear pink. You should too.

I wear pink. There. I said it. I wear it, I love it, I embrace that love.

There are so many woman who tell me “You look so great in pink, wish I could wear it but it makes me feel too ___” . The words inserted into that blank are usually little girlish, girly girl-ish, silly or they say they’re too old.

So sad….I had no idea one could actually grow out of wearing a color but it appears that is the misconception.

I don’t know why we allow these rules; rules that limit us and ultimately affect our self-expression.

Pink is just a color and like any color I will admit there are certain assumptions linked to it. However, those assumptions are by very definition of the word just supposings of some random person. Assumptions can be changed if the majority’s viewpoint is shifted ever so slightly. It’s a fluid concept and I choose to not be held to the standards of such concepts.

I love pink. That’s why I wear it. I think it’s a beautiful color and it makes me happy. As I tell those women who say they can’t wear pink “because”, why not give it a try and wear it if you like it. Chances are many others will like it on you too. Wear what makes you happy and don’t worry about the girly girl stuff!

Today’s look is a soft but sophisticated look that I think is perfect for Spring or Summer. I love the structure of the jacket paired with the graceful cut of the dress. My necklace is one of my fave’s from my Chloe + Isabel boutique! Shop it here!

Dress: Cynthia Rowley but love this one!

Keep being you, my friends…you’re one of a kind!  xoxo…Cortneybre…

Not Quite 50…Shades of Gray

I’m wearing a gray ensemble today….it’s not a reflection of my mood I must add…rather it is what came together as I pulled together my outfit this hurried morn. While I’m not wearing 50 shades of gray (no…nothing that exciting happening…), I am wearing 5 shades of gray ranging from pewter to metallic and a few shades in between.

I think the not so “matchy-matchy” shades actually add texture and definition and the outfit most likely would have looked very uniform had the colors matched exactly. So..yay!….it worked and I was able to add a splash of color with my bright pink Kate Spade belt.

Speaking of Kate Spade (do you know how many conversations I’ve begun this way…), in case you didn’t see my Saturday quick pic post, I was fortunate enough to travel the 3 hours round trip to a Kate Spade outlet store! In honor of me, as Mother’s Day is approaching, my wonderful hubby gifted me with a little shopping spree at this wonderful store and I was much obliged to take advantage of his gift as soon as possible!

After I looked at everything at least 5 times and picked up/put down several bags, I decided upon this lovely bag you see in the pictures before you. I think it is just wonderful! Structured and neutral but feminine and just a teensy bit “Celine-eque” in shape. Plus it was outlet priced and on sale for 40% off!

I must confess I bought two other bags and a cute bracelet also but more about them in a future post! Hope you’re having a great day! Xoxo…Cortneybre…

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award!

I’m so excited to be nominated for my first blogger award!

Many thanks to Wilmke at W In Wonderland for nominating me. It means so much! Check out her beautiful blog at http://winwonderland.wordpress.com/!

The Rules…

Part of receiving the award is to keep paying the love forward with the following rules:

  1.  A BIG “thank you” to one that nominated you, and link to his or her blog (again, thanks Wilmke at W In Wonderland!)

     2.  Share 7 facts about yourself with your followers.

My Facts…

Hmmmm….let’s see…here we go!

  • I’ve always been a fashion lover! The only two times (yes, 2…I was a really well behaved kid!) I got in *real* trouble when I was a small child was when I literally fell in the floor with a temper tantrum over 1) a pair of pink cowboy boots and 2) a pair of red patent leather shoes.
  • I’m a natural redhead but have sported purple highlights. If I worked in a business setting that allowed less conservative hair-colors, I’d definitely have lavender or light pink highlights now.
  • I’m obsessed with Kate Spade and my dream job would be to work for the company as a merchandiser or designer.
  • I’m originally from Georgia but moved around the country quite a bit after college before returning home to the Peach state.
  • I love heels and wear them every day. I can run in heels if the situation arises. I think sneakers (or tennis shoes as we say in the South) are for working out ONLY. <I’m not digging the designer tennis shoe trend!>
  • Cortney is my first name and Bre my middle name. I’ve never used my middle name until I started this blog. Now people refer to me as Cortneybre and I like to think of it as my blogger superhero name.
  • Hairstyling is not my forte. Most of my posts feature me with my ponytail. I prefer my hair long but wear it up most of the time. I’m amazed at the talented bloggers and their hairstyling techniques!

Recognition of Others…Sharing the love…
