Cyber Monday…it’s finally upon us…

This is me…desperately trying to find a cedar tree to hang my cool ornament on – it was a planned theme…and “in my mind”, it was going to look fabulous.

12.2.19.5.jpg

In actuality, it looked like this…

….see my face.  See how happy I look.  Yeah..it was flipping C.O.L.D and this theme…wasn’t working out.  (notice the skirt still looks good though….)..oh and I forgot my gold belt…so just imagine how awesome this would have looked with a gold belt!

12.2.19.1.jpg

So, I switched venues and this turned out much better!

The lighting was much different so the colors look a little off…the skirt is actually better represented in the shot above…

12.2.19.2

And check out this cute oxford button up!  I had it embroidered with my “brand” although I should have ordered a smaller size and I might do that since it’s under $15!!  Why not grab another?!

12.2.19.8

You know…Cyber Monday couldn’t come at a worst time…Monday, really?!  The first Monday of December…yikes!  And I hear many retailers are extending it to next Friday so it’s now Cyber “Week”.  You know the good stuff is gonna be gone by then though so we’re back to hitting the Monday sales!

12.2.19.3

Mondays are my busiest days.  Like most people, it’s “Mun-day” and filled with emails, meetings and looming deadlines.

But..I also have access to the internet and a privacy screen on my computer…or I could just shut my office door?…hmmmm….not that I’m condoning shopping while working…of course not…but I do believe about $9 billion dollars will be spent today & I’m sure everyone didn’t take the day off so…

…I’m not going to feel too bad if I snag a few deals!

12.2.19.10

Speaking of deals…don’t forget to use the Rakuten Ebates site…you get extra cash back on most of your online purchases.  Some sites are up to 20% cash back!  I’ve gotten over $1000 dollars in cash back since I became a member a few years ago so I can attest to its deals!

Ok..enough reading about me!  Get out there and SHOP!!  I’m heading to the JCrew site right now….

Holiday Humbug – But I Still Got my Party Looks…

Ahh…December 1st is upon us…ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  (This was meant to be read as a scream and not as an “oh yay”).  Cortneybre.SheinTop..14.jpg

The Holidays are hectic for most people…I have a lot of birthdays to celebrate and my anniversary (VEGAS..WHOOO-HOOO) to add to my already stressful Christmas stocking of to-do’s and to-by fors.

And, although I am EXTREMELY excited & thankful beyond measure about being a style influencer for rewardStyle, oh my God…it couldn’t have come at a more stressful time!

Cortneybre.SheinTop.11-rotated.jpg

There’s quite a bit to learn – lots of updating to be done and now…some sort of added importance to my posts?  I think it’s pretty natural for me to feel that way and I’m trying to overcome it and hell – I am overcoming it – look at this post!

Cortneybre.SheinTop.animation.gif

However, I am sitting on the fence about how much writing effort I should actually put into the blog – vs – just sharing my images and where to shop them.  I’ve been reading other blogs that I really enjoy and I think that I relate to them because I am also a blogger.

Cortneybre.SheinTop.7

But for the everyday gal, who most likely has one or all of the following: kids, pets, JOB(s), house (to keep clean & decorate), husband, wife or significant other, parents (possibly aging)..it seems a bit petty to write about…well…blogging woes and clothes, in the grand scheme of things.

The good news is – although the timing of it is driving me crazy – my readers can easily shop my looks by clicking one link and its makes things MUCH easier!!

No getting the kids in the car and containing them while you shop, or fighting traffic – just to get TO the store.  Or finding out its sold out or they don’t have your size!  I really do hope this makes life easier for those who want to shop my look…it has for me as I follow other influencers and LOVE what they wear but know that I don’t have that store nearby.

Oh!  And I’m working on adding the rewardStyle LIKEtoKNOW.it button to my blog..but hey…didn’t I just tell you I am busy!?!

Cortneybre.SheinTop.19

Well..now at least my dear readers can shop easier and if they should choose to continue with my, often, stream-of-consciousness style writing, they’ll learn a little bit more about me and my world.

Speaking of which – I’ve also been thinking about my targeted audience and how do I define that..who would be in that audience?  I literally just realized, this morning…my targeted audience is well….ME.  Possibly a little less extravagant, as most people wouldn’t walk around with a Victoria’s Secret-esqe V-neck bodysuit in downtown Bakersfield, CA when its 35 degrees outside.

Cortneybre.SheinTop.3-rotated.jpg

Regardless, I’m targeting myself…I work, have a child, husband, home, parents, family, pets and everything else.  So, my world is a whirlwind and shopping and outfit prepping for me is often hectic and done at midnight or 5:00am on a Saturday morning.

Cortneybre.SheinTop.5-rotated.jpg

So…dear audience…I feel ya!  And I hope that you find some inspiration from my outfits and now you can easily shop the looks too!

Oh and I laugh every time I look at the pic of me smiling…I was freaking freezing…I shiver every time I look at these images!

Bright Tights, Big City

Bright light, big city, gone to my baby’s head
Whoa, bright light, an’big city, gone to my baby’s head
I tried to tell the woman, but she don’t believe a word I said (Jimmy Reed, 1961)

My LOOK!

Brooks Brothers Camel Hair Jacket          Ankle length slacks – H&M

Calvin Klein Sandals                                  A New Day turtleneck – Target

STYLEGAGA Tights – Amazon               Tory Burch Perry Bag – similar here

J.Crew Necklace – similar here

It’s no surprise that I’m a shopper… and I thought I was totally “in the know” on most shopping sites and niches until I recently discovered Amazon Fashion.  Specifically, The Drop, on Amazon.com.  It debuted in June 2019 – I think before I started blogging again so somehow I must have missed it during my hiatus!

I stumbled upon it (despite being on Amazon constantly to order boring things like refrigerator filter refills) when Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific linked a pair of her fantastically colorful tights to Amazon.  Check out her post here on her fave tights!

As you can tell from the pictures…I bought the tights!  It’s actually a 6-pack of different colors – yellow, orange, pink, red, blue and green – all very, very bright.  Buy them here – STYLEGAGA Tights !!  There is also a multi-pack of pastel colors which I’m most likely going to purchase….how can I not!?

I LOVE the look of layering bright colors – and I think this look in particular is very clever.  Color blocking or a two-toned look is a popular trend that is a little edgy but so, so fun!  People are surprised when I wear tights with sandals in the winter, or “off-season”.  In my mind – as I explain to them – the tights convert the sandals into boots, basically?  That might sound strange but it actually functions very similarly.

There are also the other *perks* – I am one of those “cold all of the time, even in summer” people so having an extra layer under jeans/slacks or a skirt helps a lot.  And these are just sheer enough to not be too thick or heavy so they’re perfect for layering.

Another hot look this season is actually quite a classic.  Different twists on the revered Burberry tartan plaid are very popular and you’ll see this pattern everywhere.  These H&M slacks are a perfect example…I love the broad orange stripe!  Also, the fit is spot on with these…they run true to size and actually fit me perfectly (I usually find the waist gaps on a lot of brands).

Lastly, if you buy anything this season, buy something that will last you for years and never go out of style!  I bought this Brooks Brothers camel hair blazer on eBay a few years ago.  It’s a circa late 80’s or early 90’s blazer – I purposefully bought it because of the over-sized cut and shoulder pads but Brooks Brothers has a beautiful similar blazer on their site now.  It’s certainly an investment piece but it looks good with everything…every year…every time.

Have a great week!  And give something bright a try!  A lot of people think they can’t wear bright colors for some strange reason…but I bet you’ll get lots of compliments and envious looks if you do!  xoxo…

In search of the PERFECT pants – Love, LOFT…

Hey there!  So, I’m working on this blog post and it’s about 9:33 pm at night.  Most of my posts are done at night and most of my pics are taken early in the morn or on the weekends.  All leading to…yep…you guessed it…like most of you out there…I’m a working gal.

11.6.19_5

So…what does every working professional need…and honestly…this transcends most occupations…the perfect pair…of black pants.  Call ’em slacks, trousers..hell…call these yoga pants!!

I’ve been very lucky to have lost a little weight…thru hard work and determination (and giving up my fave snacks and basically all forms of cake)…my formally fave “go-to” pants – which were a few years old and faded anyway – are just too big.  (BIG victory actually!)

So that set me on the search for the typically – impossible to find – black pants.  And…after lots of searching – both in stores and online I decided to try a promising pair from LOFT.  CLICK HERE FOR THE PERFECT PANTS!!

LOFT WIDE LEG PULL ON PANTS IN PONTE

11.6.19_2

Why I LOVE these pants:

  • Comfort – The fabric is just thick enough, soft, stretchy and forgiving.
  • Fit – I’ve read the reviews on the LOFT site and although a few people didn’t care for the fit – depending on body style – the majority felt the way I do…perfect!  Not too tight, comfortably hugging all the right spots and with a slightly cropped leg.
  • ELASTIC waistband – and yeah…that’s a good thing when its done the right way.  These pants fit tight to the waist but not too close.  I can easily wear a belt with these (there are no loops but I just fasten it over the waist) or just wear them without one and both look great!
  • Versatile – I have worn these to work, with a t-shirt and sneakers and with a yoga top….and they all worked…all were comfortable and looked great!

So…there you have it…my official endorsement of THE necessary staple to every lady’s wardrobe!  And a hard one to find!  Try them out and see what you think!  They’re currently on sale too!

Also…I’ve got some really cute shots of my beautiful hair accessories from Zara.  I just love them…and the quality of the gems and the hair clips in general is much higher than what I’ve encountered at other stores.  Check them out at Zara!

11.6.19_3

Oh and the top is by Who What Wear from Target…sadly it’s no longer available (I’ve searched everywhere) and that’s too bad because its a classic gingham check which is versatile and its a great transition piece since it’s still in the 80’s in the afternoons here.  The sleeves are adorable too and totally IN right now…

11.6.19_1

Annnd…it was part of a set (a similar matching checked midi skirt)…which I think WWW and Target should keep in stock because…hello!  I’m throwing on a pair of tights and I can belt the top and use it as a jacket over a long sleeved shirt and/or just throw on a cute coat or cardigan and I’m Winter ready!

Ok..gotta hit the hay!  Happy shopping!!
