Bright light, big city, gone to my baby’s head

It’s no surprise that I’m a shopper… and I thought I was totally “in the know” on most shopping sites and niches until I recently discovered Amazon Fashion. Specifically, The Drop, on Amazon.com. It debuted in June 2019 – I think before I started blogging again so somehow I must have missed it during my hiatus!
I stumbled upon it (despite being on Amazon constantly to order boring things like refrigerator filter refills) when Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific linked a pair of her fantastically colorful tights to Amazon. Check out her post here on her fave tights!
As you can tell from the pictures…I bought the tights! It’s actually a 6-pack of different colors – yellow, orange, pink, red, blue and green – all very, very bright. Buy them here – STYLEGAGA Tights !! There is also a multi-pack of pastel colors which I’m most likely going to purchase….how can I not!?
I LOVE the look of layering bright colors – and I think this look in particular is very clever. Color blocking or a two-toned look is a popular trend that is a little edgy but so, so fun! People are surprised when I wear tights with sandals in the winter, or “off-season”. In my mind – as I explain to them – the tights convert the sandals into boots, basically? That might sound strange but it actually functions very similarly.
There are also the other *perks* – I am one of those “cold all of the time, even in summer” people so having an extra layer under jeans/slacks or a skirt helps a lot. And these are just sheer enough to not be too thick or heavy so they’re perfect for layering.
Another hot look this season is actually quite a classic. Different twists on the revered Burberry tartan plaid are very popular and you’ll see this pattern everywhere. These H&M slacks are a perfect example…I love the broad orange stripe! Also, the fit is spot on with these…they run true to size and actually fit me perfectly (I usually find the waist gaps on a lot of brands).
Lastly, if you buy anything this season, buy something that will last you for years and never go out of style! I bought this Brooks Brothers camel hair blazer on eBay a few years ago. It’s a circa late 80’s or early 90’s blazer – I purposefully bought it because of the over-sized cut and shoulder pads but Brooks Brothers has a beautiful similar blazer on their site now. It’s certainly an investment piece but it looks good with everything…every year…every time.
Have a great week! And give something bright a try! A lot of people think they can’t wear bright colors for some strange reason…but I bet you’ll get lots of compliments and envious looks if you do! xoxo…
