The power of a pin…on Cortneybre…

Sometimes something so small can make or break an outfit.

A well placed pin can make the difference between flop or flawless!

I find fashion inspiration in the oddest places.  Hobby Lobby was the perfect place to find this most important finishing flourish!

The outfit, pulled perfectly together, with the placement of a pin! (This posh Olivia Miller clutch helped too!)

Trending Now: Palm Print on Cortneybre…

As summer quickly approaches, bright prints and colors abound!

One of the hottest prints trending this summer is the

palmprintwording

It hit big last summer and has become a fave of bloggers and fashionistas.

I was lucky to stumble upon this lovely Joie palm print blazer late last summer.  It pairs well with bright or neon yellows and could easily work with blue, pink or red.

 tips for palm prints

  • Offset the print with a complimentary color – try red, yellow, or blue!
  • Don’t wear too much green – or you’ll risk the over the top “safari” look
  • Try the print with stripes – especially navy blue!
  • Don’t wear too many prints – palm print head to toe can be too busy and distracting
  • Go simple sometimes– wear only white with the print
  • Bring on the metal!  Gold and silver both look great with the print so don’t forget the jewelry!

As with most prints, the palm print is very flattering and versatile!  Hope you’ll check out this trend and start styling soon!

When Life Gives You Lemons…a Lemon Print Shirt on Cortneybre…

melemons

There is an old saying…when life gives you lemons…make lemonade.  I’ve recently been handed a lemon…and while I don’t want to go into too much detail until I know more, I will admit it’s gotten me down a bit.

In an effort to comfort myself, I decided to go shopping – my go-to retail therapy approach that usually perks me back up.  While shopping at Belk – one of my fave stores – and perusing their isles I saw this cute and whimsical lemon print shirt by Jones and Company.

It was a sign from the universe…

So into my buggy it went and onto my body the next day!  I thought this bright green LouenHide bag was the perfect match!

I topped the lemon print off with a lace overlay blouse from LOFT and added a cute and flirty skirt from JCREW.

I hope you’re having a great week!  xx…

Sheer lace…a Kimono jacket trend…

So, I bought this beautiful lace kimono jacket yesterday.  I just fell in love with its sheer beauty and intricate patterns.

This piece was actually bought to wear with a cute pair of scalloped edged shorts during my cruise next week.  While gathering an outfit for today’s post, I just couldn’t resist incorporating the kimono into the look.

Therefore, what was to be casual day number 2, became dressy day number 1.

I must also share that I bought a long, floral print kimono yesterday as well.

It’s fantastic.

I’d been wondering about all the hype with the kimono-look. I will say that for the short period of time I had it on, I felt ultimately feminine and sexy….and I was wearing it just inside my house so imagine wearing it out!

It is an intimate look…as if I was interrupted during my leisure activities and popped on the closest silky thing that was hanging within reach. It adds a little bit of mystery to one’s reputation…

Till tomorrow, dear readers…xx..Cortneybre..
